Deep tissue injuries (DTIs) that evolve into severe pressure ulcers affect millions of people in the United States each year. Unfortunately, many believe that DTIs and severe pressure ulcers (also called pressure injuries) are always preventable with proper skin care and repositioning. This incorrect perception leads to malpractice claim losses.

This webinar will discuss the physiological mechanisms underlying these injuries, which are likely due to tissue infarctions, and the research showing they occur despite frequent repositioning and good skin care.
