Senior Risk Consultant
Constellation®

“The risk mitigation and response team is here to partner with our customers to prepare proactively for harm events, to support them through the process once a harm event has occurred and to help them move forward with lessons learned.”

Karie Minaga-Miya is a Senior Risk Consultant for Constellation®: a growing portfolio of medical professional liability (MPL) insurance companies that includes MMIC, UMIA and Arkansas Mutual. With degrees in both nursing and law, Karie brings a strong combination of health care leadership and risk management expertise to her role.

Karie’s combined legal, nursing and administrative experience puts her in an ideal position to help Constellation’s policyholders mitigate and navigate risk in a variety of scenarios, including situations in which a harm event has occurred. She knows that adverse outcomes can be emotionally and factually difficult to navigate. Through the HEAL® program, Karie helps customers prepare for harm events, provides real-time support and assists with uncovering key event learnings—ultimately helping to facilitate a better way forward for all those involved. She is a certified professional in health care risk management (CPHRM); a designation from the American Hospital Association.

Outside of work, Karie enjoys cooking new recipes, fishing with her husband and, most importantly, making memories with her family.
